Lawyer Zulfiqar Ali Junu has asked the authorities to say whether or not the killing was an attempt to hide the real criminals and why an investigation committee should not be formed to probe the incident.

The home secretary, Madaripur SP, and Sadar OC have been sent the notice and have been given 15 days to respond.

On June 15, people in Madaripur foiled Fahim’s attempt to attack a college teacher and handed him over to the police.

The court sent him in police remand but Fahim was killed during a encounter between police and terrorists, the police had said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had said that Fahim was a Chatra Shibir member and his death exposed those behind the attempted killing.

But the BNP has accused the government of deliberately killing Fahim to hide the real culprits.

In his notice, sent by registered post, Junu quoted media reports and said that the entire episode was shrouded in a mystery.

He added that Fahim's custodial death was a violation of the law and of human rights.
