4.7 magnitude tremor shakes southern Bangladesh

A mild earthquake has shaken southern Bangladesh, including Chittagong City and the districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts.

According to US Geological Survey (USGS), the 4.7 magnitude tremor struck at 6:27am on Monday.

The quake’s epicentre was 21 kilometres southeast from Khagrhachharhi’s Manikchharhi, 22 kilometres north-northeast from Chittagong’s Raozan and 197 kilometres east-southeast from Dhaka. It was 10 kilometres deep.

No damage or casualties have been reported so far from the earthquake in the early hours.
