“Violators of traffic laws will not be spared. They will have to face firm action,” Asaduzzaman Mia said at a meeting with transport workers and owners in Gabtoli on Thursday.

“Immediate legal steps will be taken for driving on the wrong side and the use of stickers and hooters on vehicles,” the DMP commissioner added.

Mia sought the help of transport owners and workers to bring order to Dhaka’s wayward traffic.

He said the DMP traffic department had drawn up a plan to regulate vehicular movement during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

He urged transporters to prevent the sale of Eid tickets on the black market and harassment of passengers.

A documentary on traffic awareness was shown during the meeting.

DMP Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Mosleh Uddin Ahmed was also present.
