The decision was changed following protests by the lawmakers.
The minister did not, however, specify whether the plots would be in capital Dhaka or outside while speaking in the budget session.
The minister said around 100,000 apartments, to be built by the capital’s development authority RAJUK, would be available at easy terms.
“The MPs who want land, please take this chance. Take apartments instead of plots,” he said.
The MPs present in the discussion protested at one shouting “No, No”.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah then asked the MPs to have patience and listen to the minister’s speech first.
The minister continued to say that he was preparing a new project after the one on apartment.
The MPs have been voicing their resentment ever since the government decided last year against allotting any more plots.
Minister Hossain on Monday also urged the MPs to plan housing projects in their constituencies in order to discourage people from moving to cities.
The National Housing Authority has already taken up such projects in 55 areas, Hossain said.
“Please give plans for housing projects on a maximum of 20-acre plots. The Housing Authority will fund it,” he said.
