The Chinese envoy says the agreement would ease the way for Bangladeshi exports and reduce the trade deficit between the countries
An inter-ministerial meeting on Sunday decided to increase the salary, the national doctors’ body said in a statement on Monday.
BMA Secretary General Prof M Iqbal Arslan told bdnews24.com that both the finance and health ministers were present in that meeting.
He said they proposed to double the salary. “We’ll only know the amount of increase once the order is issued. But we hope they will double the salary.”
Currently, the intern doctors are paid Tk 10,000 a month, which was increased in 2010 from Tk 6,000.
Prof Arslan said they proposed the increase considering the new pay-scale and socio-economic reality.
He said apart from learning, interns play a “crucial role” in managing patients in the hospitals.
