Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will present his budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal on Jun 2.

Before the session starts at 5pm Wednesday, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will chair a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee to decide the session’s duration and agenda.

President Md Abdul Hamid had convened the session on May 15.

It will be the third budget of the present government and the 10th presented by Muhith – the eighth in a row.

The finance minister has already told bdnews24.com that the size of the new budget will be more than Tk 3.40 trillion.

The minister will present the budget through PowerPoint, in keeping with the past tradition. A seven-minute-long video clip on the government’s overall success will also be shown during the session.

The finance ministry on Sunday wrote to the Parliament Secretariat to prepare the screening of the video clip before Muhith places the budget.

A Cabinet meeting, which is supposed to take place in Parliament building, will first clear the budget for presenting in the House on Wednesday.

Then it will be sent to the president for approval. The finance minister will present the budget afterwards.

President Md Abdul Hamid is also expected to attend Wednesday’s session.

The MPs will begin discussions on the budget proposals after the minister’s speech.

Apart from the budget-related proceedings, a numbers of bills are expected to be placed and passed during this session.
