3 sentenced to death for 2014 murder of 12-year old boy in Netrokona

A Netrokona court has sentenced three men to death for abducting and killing a 12-year-old boy at Kendua Upazila.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge AKM Abul Kashem delivered the verdict on Tuesday in the case concerning the murder of Shukur Ali in 2014.

The convicts are Shamim Khan and ‘Sohag’ of the Upazila’s Chitua Naoparha village, and ‘Humayun’, of Tarakandi Rajibpur.

Shamim and Sohag were present in court on Tuesday. Humayun is still on the run.

Quoting case details, Public Prosecutor GM Khan Pathan told bdnews24.com that fifth grader Shukur Ali was abducted on Jun 9, 2014.

The abductors had later demanded Tk 600,000 as ransom, but police caught two of them by tracking their mobile phones, he said.

Based on their confessions, Ali’s remains were recovered from the Suti River on Jul 2, Pathan added.

Police submitted the chargesheet in the murder case, accusing the three convicts on Aug 5 last year.
