“Chargesheets for all murders of foreigners including Cesare Tavella will soon be submitted.” Detectives have identified their killers and dug up all information relating to the cases, he said.

Tavella, an Italian aid worker, was shot dead inside Gulshan’s diplomatic zone on Sep 28, 2015.

Within a week, Japanese national Kunio Hoshi was shot dead by masked gunmen at Rangpur’s Kaunia.

There have been other murders before and after these two asssinations, targetting secular thinkers and priests from religious minorities.

The government has blamed the BNP for the ‘targeted killings’ and said they were trying to destabilise the country.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police Shahidul Hoque, at a press conference, said extremists were behind Tavella’s murder saying five suspects have been arrested.

As for Hoshi, he said four suspected militants of the banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) have been arrested for the Oct 3 murder.
