Jamalpur’s Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shariful Haque said that 35-year-old Abul Hashem, who was arrested over his wife’s murder, died in the early hours of Monday.
On Apr 14, Rahima Aktar was murdered at her home in the district’s Sarishabarhi Upazila. The husband, Hashem had been absconding since then.
Police arrested him from Dhaka on Sunday and shifted him to the Sarishabarhi Police Station, said SP Haque.
“Hashem hanged himself in the toilet. He was rushed to the local hospital, where doctors declared him dead.”
