It has ordered 23 people, including the health secretary, chief of the Directorate General of Health Services, the IGP and directors of state hospitals to explain within two weeks.

A High Court bench issued the order on Monday after initial hearing of a petition filed by a rights body.

It also asked why the authorities should not be ordered to initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for attacks on healthcare providers as well as on patients and their relatives in hospitals.

“Doctors and nurses often go on strike for various reasons and it is widely reported in the media.

“In this context, the plea, sought a three-point instruction,” advocate Manzil Morshed, who argued for the petitioners, told bdnews24.com.
