Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu Jafar Md Kamruzzaman delivered the verdict on Monday in the case started over the murder of Bishal Chandra Ananda.

The convicts are Aduri Rani, 35, of Borhobala Union at Mithapukur Upazila, and her second husband Bipin Chandra, 40.

State counsel Faruk Md Reazul Karim said Aduri has gone into hiding after jumping the bail she had secured during case proceedings. But Bipin was present in court.

Quoting case details, he said Ananda, Aduri’s son with her first husband Bikash Chandra, had started living with his grandparents after his mother left Bikash and got married to Bipin.

Bipin could not accept Ananda visiting his mother, which led to a dispute between the husband and wife. Aduri brought the child to her on Apr 11, 2014 from her parents.

The grandparents informed Mithapukur police after they did not find Ananda at Aduri’s house. Police found his body buried under the floor of the cowshed at Bipin’s home in the evening, Karim said.

He said police arrested Aduri and Bipin after they confessed to strangling the child to death and burying him in the cowshed.

Mithapukur police’s Sub-Inspector Moslem Uddin had initiated the murder case against the two the same night. The duo later confessed in court to committing the crime.

Police submitted the chargesheet accusing them on Jul 8 same year.
