BNP rebel chairman aspirant hacked to death during clash in Comilla

A renegade chairman candidate of the BNP has been murdered in Comilla during a clash with supporters of the party-nominate aspirant.

Voting has been held in 34 union councils at the district in the fifth phase of the Union Parishad (UP) election.

Witness said that the clash involving two groups of BNP supporters occurred around 3:30pm near a voting centre at Titas Upazila’s Balarampur Union.

Rebel aspirant Kamal Uddin was attacked by a group of men led by BNP’s candidate Tofail Ahmed.

The victim’s relative Bashir Ahmed, who claimed to be at the spot, told bdnews24.com that Ahmed and his followers attacked with the candidate sharp weapons.

He was taken to the local hospital where doctors declared him dead, reported bdnews24.com’s Comilla correspondent.
