Youth hacks schoolgirl to death, injures her 3 classmates in Chapainawabganj 

A youth has hacked a schoolgirl to death and injured three of her classmates at Chapainawabganj’s Mahipur.

Police said the four students of Mahipur SM High School came under the attack near Mahipur College around 9am on Friday.

Locals caught and handed attacker Abdul Malek, 28, over to police immediately after the incident.

The dead has been identified as Konica Rani, 14, the daughter of Lakshman Ghosh of Diarh Dhainagar village, under the Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.

She was a 10th grader.

Injured Tarin Afroz, 15, has been admitted to Chapainawabganj General Hospital, Tanjima Akter, 14, to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Mariam Akter to a local clinic.

Quoting locals, Sadar police OC Mazharul Islam said, “Several girl students were returning home after attending classes conducted by a private tutor at Mahipur Bazar. Spoilt Malek swooped down and injured them at that time.”

Kanica died on her way to Chapainawabganj General Hospital.

Witness Shuktara Begum said she saw a youth hacking some girls randomly when she was returning home from a market.

The four girls went to their private tutor Gobratala Women’s College Chemistry Lecturer Khairul Islam.

The teacher said he took their class from 7am and they left around 9am. He could not say anything about the motive behind the attack.
