Judge SM Kuddus Zaman of Dhaka’s District and Sessions Judges Court fixed the date after hearings ended on Wednesday.
Defence lawyer Faruk Ahmed told bdnews24.com the defendants had made their deposition over two days from Sunday to defend themselves.
Seven people were shot dead by a gang of robbers during the daylight heist at the bank’s branch in Ashulia’s Kathgorha Bazar on Apr 21, 2015, while a mob lynched one of the robbers.
Five of the deceased, including the bank’s manager, were killed on the spot.
The robbers had fired while trying to flee and exploded crude bombs, as locals tried to surround them.
Two more succumbed to bullet wounds at Savar’s Enam Medical College and Hospital later that day.
Around Tk 600,000 were recovered as a result of the resistance put by the locals.
Quoting the confessions of those arrested, police had later said the robbery was intended to raise funds for militant activities.
Ten of the 11 accused in the case are behind bars. Seven of them, who confessed to their involvement in the crime, are members of the banned militant outfit, Jamaat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
But in their defence in court they claimed they had been ‘tortured’ and forced to make confessional statements.
All of them claimed they were innocent, said their lawyer Faruk Ahmed.
