A joint secretary general of the party, he came under spotlight for meeting an Israeli politician in India.
He was arrested on May 15, under Section 54 for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to topple the government.
Police produced him in court on Tuesday, showing him arrested in two cases of violence, after the earlier seven-day remand expired.
Pleas were filed in two separate courts to question the BNP leader over the cases filed with Motijheel and Lalbagh police for ten days each, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman told bdnews24.com.
Both pleas would be heard on May 30, said Chowdhury’s lawyer Khairul Islam.
He was ordered to prison after his bail plea was turned down, said Islam.
The two cases were filed in January last year for vandalism, arson and obstructing police from discharging their duties during a BNP led anti-government stir.
The BNP leader, convenor of his party’s north unit at Chittagong, had moved the High Court for a stay on his police remand.
The court on Sunday said he could not be taken into remand once his plea was resolved.
