Comilla Medical College Hospital’s forensic department head Dr Kamda Prasad Saha said he and his family had been warned of dire consequences in the letter received on Tuesday morning.

Speaking to journalists later in the afternoon, he said the letter, which asked him to submit a second autopsy report in a ‘specific format’, was sent to his office at the medical college by post.

Saha said he had informed police, CID, which is investigating Tonu’s murder, and the college authorities and lodged a general diary at the Kotwali Model Police Station.

“Referring to the Tonu murder case, the letter said I was complicating a simple matter. It also asked whether I wanted my family’s destruction.”

Kotwali police OC Md Abdur Rab said they would take legal measures.

After 19-year old Tonu’s body was found near her house inside the Comilla Cantonment on Mar 20, police said they suspected she had been raped.

A second post-mortem examination was performed following a court order after the first autopsy found no evidence of rape.

But the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police said last week they had found proof in a DNA test of Tonu having been raped before her murdered.

The second autopsy report is yet to be published.
