These institutes – Dhaka’s Bangladesh Medical College, Popular Medical College, Uttara Adhunik Medical College and Uttara Women’s Medical College – could be penalised if they fail to act within the deadline.

A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting on private medical college rules at the health ministry’s office in the secretariat on Sunday, a statement said.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim presided over the meeting.

In the meeting, a committee headed by the director of medical education was asked to inspect other private medical colleges and submit a report within 15 days.

A decision on the academic activities of the medical colleges would be taken after the report is submitted, the statement said.
