BSF reportedly shoots Bangladesh youth dead at Panchagarh border

A Bangladeshi has been shot dead purportedly by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) on the Panchagarh border.

Md Sujon, 23, was shot while cutting grass in a field near his house at Sarialjot border in Tentulia on Monday afternoon, his family said.
 
“We heard a gunshot. Then we rushed to the field and saw him lying. The doctor later declared him dead,” Sujon’s brother Delwar Hossain said.
 
Tentulia Upazila Health Complex doctor Nasir Uddin said a bullet pierced through Sujon from the back.
 
Border Guard Bangladesh’s Tentulia Company Commander Didar Ahmed said 109 Battalion of BSF is deployed at Lichugachh on the Indian side of the border.
 
The top BGB officials were discussing the next course of action, he added.
