“Our operations resumed from the morning,” Airport Manager Wing Commander Reazul Kabir told bdnews24.com on Sunday.

He said that a US-Bangla Airlines flight from Dhaka landed at the airport just after 8am.

Docks at the Chittagong port were closed on Friday night as cyclonic storm Roanu approached the Bangladesh coast. The Met office advised danger signal No. 7 for the port.

Strong winds and heavy rains on Saturday morning led airport authorities to suspend operations around 10:30am.

The storm made a landfall through the Chittagong coast around 1:30pm and crossed Bangladesh several hours later after weakening and causing heavy rain.

The storm claimed at least 24 lives in coastal Bangladesh. Chittagong suffered the maximum number of casualties and damage. At least 12 people died and five others reportedly went missing in the district.
