Bangladesh, Bulgaria sign 3 MoUs, 1 agreement to enhance cooperation

Bangladesh and Bulgaria have signed three MoUs to bolster cooperation between the two countries.

Besides, the two countries have also signed an agreement to enhance cooperation between the Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The instruments were inked after bi-lateral talks between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov at the latter’s office in Sofia on Friday.

The two prime ministers were present at the signing ceremony.

Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque and PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim informed reporters about these bilateral deals.

The three MoUs were signed to enhance economic cooperation between the governments of Bangladesh and Bulgaria; increase cooperation between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh and to strengthen cooperation between Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency and SME Foundation of Bangladesh.

The MoU on economic cooperation was signed by Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque for the Bangladesh side while Deputy Minister of the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy Daniela Vezieva signed it on behalf of his government.

The MoU on cooperation between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh was signed by Bangladesh Ambassador to Bulgaria Allama Siddiqui and Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Valentin Poriazov.

The MoU on SME cooperation was signed by Managing Director of SME Foundation Safiqul Islam for the Bangladesh side while Executive Diretor of Bulgarian SME Promotion Agency signed it on behalf of his country.

The agreement on cooperation between the two trade bodies was signed by Vice President of the FBCCI Md Shafiul Islam and BCCI Secretary General Vasil Todorov for their respective sides.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali was also present at the signing ceremony.

Prime Minister Hasina reached Sofia on Wednesday to attend the Global Women Leaders' Forum. She is scheduled to return to Dhaka on Saturday.
