Bangladesh, Bhutan foreign ministers review bilateral relations in Thimphu

The foreign ministers of Bangladesh and Bhutan have reviewed bilateral relations between their two countries and have vowed to work together for further strengthening the ties.

Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali reached Thimphu on a bilateral visit on Thursday at the invitation of his counterpart Damcho Dorji.

The foreign ministry said during the meeting, the two foreign ministers expressed “satisfaction” at the current state of bilateral relations.

They also discussed various issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the sectors of hydro-power, connectivity, air services, renewable energy, trade and commerce, peacekeeping, human resource development, science and technology.

The Bhutanese foreign minister lauded Bangladesh’s “tremendous” socio-economic development under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Mahmood Ali “deeply” appreciated the “impressive” all round progress that Bhutan has achieved over the years.

Later in the evening, he attended a dinner hosted in his honour by the Bhutanese foreign minister.

The foreign minister will also pay a courtesy call on the King of Bhutan during his three-day visit.
