They described Saifur’s as a controversial institution.

The minister was invited as the chief guest to felicitate students who excelled in the last Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Junior School Certificate exams at DRU auditorium on Friday.

He arrived at the venue just after 11am.

Huq raised objection after seeing the name of Saifur’s on the event’s banner and at one stage he left the venue.

DRU President Jamal Uddin and General Secretary Raju Ahmed tried in vain to stop him.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Siddique, who was invited as a special guest, followed the minister.
Following their departure, DRU leaders went ahead with the event with Saifur’s Private Limited Chairman Shams R Khan and Managing Director Saifur Rahman Khan felicitating the students.
Saifur’s drew flak after coming up with an advertisement boasting about its English teaching skills that can even create “efficient hackers”.
,
The advertisement came amidst the tumult over the recent cyber heist of Bangladesh’s foreign currency reserves kept in Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Taking a serious exception to the advertisement, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid had then said that the coaching centre was misleading people by claiming skills in “creating thieves”.
He warned of legal action against it.
The education ministry filed a general diary over the advertisement and wrote to the Anti Corruption Commission for initiating investigation against the coaching centre.
At the Friday’s event, 40 children of DRU members were felicitated and handed over scholarship for their outstanding performance in PEC and JSC exams.
