Bangladesh has been experiencing heat waves across the country, with a high of 41.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga on Friday
The incident occurred on Thursday after Mintu Mia’s daughters ‘Mim’, 9, and ‘Kusum’, 8, along with their cousin ‘Nahin’, 8, went for a splash in their family pond at Sadar Upazila, Fire Service official Anwarul Hoque said.
When Kusum began to drown her elder sisters Mim and Nahin rushed to rescue her. But in the process all three lost balance and drowned in the pond, Hoque said quoting family members.
Family members had recovered the bodies before the arrival of Fire Service team.
They were rushed to the hospital where doctors on duty declared them brought dead.
On Wednesday, three sisters drowned in the Shitlakkhya River in Narayanganj.
