5 female students depose against AUST teacher in sexual harassment case
Five female students have testified against Associate Professor of Dhaka’s Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Mahfuzur Rashid Ferdous in a sexual harassment case, Court Police ASI Partho Chatterjee says.

The associate Professor of the university’s electrical engineering department, Rashid was also serving as the assistant proctor of the institute.
He was arrested from a Ramna flat in the wee hours of Wednesday in connection with a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Kalabagan police station.
Earlier, in the face of students’ agitation over the alleged sexual assault university authorities put Rashid on temporary suspension.
On Wednesday, the court granted a two day remand for Rashid.
ASI Partho Chatterjee said two students deposed in a special room of Metropolitan Magistrate Noorunnahar Yasmin while the other three recorded their statements before Metropolitan Magistrates Sadbir Yasin Hussain Choudhury, Golam Nabi and Maruf Hussain.
