Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and members of his entourage were escorted inside the assembly hall before the session began on Wednesday.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury informed the MPs of his presence who welcomed him by thumping their desks. Sheikh Jaber, seated at the gallery, waved at them.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, taking questions from the House, mentioned her Kuwaiti counterpart while discussing government plans to carve out an economic zone in the south, centred on Payra, the sea port to be built at Patuakhali.

“Kuwait’s prime minister is here. We have signed some agreements with them,” she said.

“Kuwait will provide financial assistance for building Payra Bridge. Lebukhali Bridge will also be made using Kuwaiti funds. For this, we thank its government.”
Just hours earlier, four deals were signed with the Arab country at the Prime Minister’s Office for investment, aid, military cooperation and diplomatic relations.
Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, the country’s first deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, Anas Khalid Al-Saleh, minister for finance and oil, and Dr Bader Hamad Al-Essa were also present during the session.
The Kuwaiti prime minister arrived in Dhaka on Monday as part of his plans to tour five countries in South and South-East Asia.
