Police seize 8,000 Yaba pills in Chittagong

Chittagong police have seized 8,000 Yaba pills from a car in Lohagarha area on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway.

Habibur Rahman, Additional Superintendant of Police (South), said the pills were found under the driver's seat on Monday morning.
 
Lohagarha police OC Md Shahjahan said the car’s driver Md Ekhlas had been arrested. The man hails from Noakhali’s Sudharam.
 
Quoting Ekhlas, the OC said, “The car belongs to one Md Islam from Teknaf. He sent Ekhlas to Chittagong with the car.”
 
OC Shahjahan added that police were preparing to file a case.
 
Bangladesh is become a major destination for Yaba trafficking from neighbouring Myanmar, where a host of cartels and insurgent armies produce the tablets for global consumption.
 
Myanmar is one of the two major sources of narcotic drugs in the world, the other being Afghanistan.
