The two suspects are students of the English Department of Rajshahi University, of which Siddiquee was a teacher.

Police believe the two had links with terrorist groups and had a hand in the murder of the professor.

Police have identified one of the suspects as Sariful Islam. Identity of the other was not revealed as it could hamper arrest attempts.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Sardar Tamijuddin Ahmed said, "No personal motive behind the murder has been established yet. Police are certain that a terrorist organisation executed the killing due to ideological reasons".

So far five people have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Sariful Islam's father and brother are among those detained by the police.

The names of the two were revealed during interrogation by those detained earlier, police said.

Interrogation of the arrestees could help police establish the motive and the identity of the group involved in the murder, police officials believe.

Meanwhile, a court granted police a four-day remand for a madrasa student and an Imam who were arrested earlier.

Court Police Inspector Abu Hasan said that the two were presented before the court on Thursday seeking a seven-day remand for interrogation.

Hearing the plea on Monday, the court granted four-day remand, Hasan said.
