A letter written on the organisation’s letterhead was delivered by post at Natore Press Club on Monday, said the club’s President Rezaul Karim.

He said the nine others on the list are former Rajshahi mayor and central Awami League leader Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi AL General Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, Rajshahi-2 MP Fazle Hossain Badsha of the ruling party, journalists Shibli Noman, Anu Mostofa, Kazi Shahed, Daily Sonali Sangbad Editor Liakat Ali, Daily Sunshine Editor Yunus Ali and freedom fighter Barjahan Ali Shahjahan.

Karim said a postman from Natore Post Office delivered the letter apparently sent by the ILF Rajshahi branch to the press club’s office assistant, who then kept the letter with other letters in a folder.

“Around 2pm, General Secretary Dulal Sarker noticed the letter and informed police and media,” he added.

Rajshahi district Superintendent of Police Shyamal Kumar Mukherjee said the letter had no specific names or addresses of the sender.

“We are looking into the matter. A vested quarter or militant group may have done this to serve their interests,” he said.
