She was talking to reporters at Narayanganj after visiting a school on Friday.

Biometric registration started on Dec 16 last year. Since then SIM cards are not being sold without fingerprints.

So far more than 10 million subscribers have complained that they could not register their mobile-phone SIM cards since their fingerprints did not match with their details in the NID database.

But the government has been denying that there are issues with the server.

The state minister said 84 million SIM cards have already been registered using biometric method.

“So our NID (server) is not down, rather there could have problems with the operators which we need to monitor.”

When asked whether the time will be extended, the state minister said the decision will be taken on Apr 30.
