His disclosure came in response to an MP’s question on Thursday.

In his absence, the minister's reply was read out by Deputy Minister Abdullah Al Islam Jakob.

Jakob said that between 2009-10 and 2015-16 fiscal years, 335 government and 63 private projects were financed by the grant from the climate change fund.

He said 94 government and 57 NGO-run projects had been completed.

Replying to another question, the deputy minister said under the Zero Discharge plan, the government aimed to bring all industries within the environment-friendly bracket by 2030.

He also said a system was in place to pull up high waste producers, adding that between July 10, 2010 and July 13, 2016, a total of around Tk 2.13 billion was collected as fine from 2,191 errant industries.
