It is suspected that Dataur Rahman, 26, whose body was found hanging in a bamboo bush at Bepari Parha at around 2pm on Sunday, was murdered, Roumari Police Station Sub-Inspector Moshiur Rahman said.

Dataur is the son of Imran's uncle Abdus Samad, who lives in neighbouring Lathialdanga village.

About 200 yards from the place where the body was recovered, two different types of sandals, blades, a cigarette packet and cigarette butts were found, the SI said.

Signs of a struggle were also found at the spot, he said.

“We suspect the miscreants first murdered Dataur and then hung his body," Moshiur added.

The SI also said there was burnt mobil oil on the body which was hanging by a towel tightened around his neck.

Referring to the first inquest report, OC ABM Sajedul Islam said there were no marks of injury on the body.

"The mark on the neck is also blurred. So there is much doubt that he committed suicide," he said.

Imran told bdnews24.com: “We still cannot find any reason behind the murder; he was a simple man and did not have any enemies."

"We cannot understand why he was murdered,” he said.

Since the family has evinced no interest in lodging a case of murder, police have launched an investigation, considering the incident as one of unnatural death.
