The chief justice-led appeals bench scrapped the State’s plea against High Court’s bail on Sunday.

Rahman’s counsels say that there is no more legal hurdle left and he can now be released from jail.

“As far as I know, he has secured bails in other cases against him,” said lawyer Md Salehuddin, who assisted Rahman’s chief counsel AJ Mohammad Ali during Sunday’s hearing.

The case, filed in 2012, concerns a report published over an alleged Skype conversation between an International Crimes Tribunal judge and an expatriate Bangladeshi legal expert.

Rahman has been in prison since he was arrested in April 2013.

He was granted bail on Jan 15 this year by High Court after being denied it by Cyber Crime Tribunal.

The State moved the Supreme Court’s chamber judge against the order and it was forwarded to regular appeals bench, which was heard on Sunday.
