Dhaka’s rail link with western region snaps after train derails

Rail communications between the capital Dhaka and the country’s western region have snapped after a train coach jumped off the tracks at Pabna’s Chatmohar.

Police said a coach of the Dhaka-bound Drutojan Express derailed at Chatmohar station at around 2:30pm on Friday.
 
There was no immediate report of any casualty or damage caused by the accident.
 
Chatmohar police said Paksey division of Bangladesh Railway had sent a rescue crane to the spot after officials were informed of the incident.
 
Chatmohar Railway Station Manager Mohiul Islam said they are expecting to resume train services as soon as the rescue work is completed.
