Bangladesh has been experiencing heat waves across the country, with a high of 41.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga on Friday
Police said a coach of the Dhaka-bound Drutojan Express derailed at Chatmohar station at around 2:30pm on Friday.
There was no immediate report of any casualty or damage caused by the accident.
Chatmohar police said Paksey division of Bangladesh Railway had sent a rescue crane to the spot after officials were informed of the incident.
Chatmohar Railway Station Manager Mohiul Islam said they are expecting to resume train services as soon as the rescue work is completed.
