An NID registration wing notice has said its office at Dhaka’s Agargaon will not receive any application for data correction or enrolment as new voters from Feb 15.

It said 514 upazila- and police-station-level would offer the service from then on.

The NID registration wing has noted that, since September last year, the Dhaka office had received over 400,000 applications seeking various services.

NID wing Director Syed Mohammad Musa told bdnews24.com, “Applications could not be processed at the upazila level over the last two months due to the increased pressure of data correction services sought by government employees in Dhaka.”

“If things go on this way, discipline in data correction services will break down,” he said.

Musa said the NID wing would continue to receive applications only for duplicate copies of NIDs.

Officials said the Dhaka office everyday was disposing of at least 5,000 applications received from the upazila level.
