The committee comprising 41 importers and dealers also made its first public appearance on the same day.

Md Abu Taleb, Secretary General of the association, told reporters, "CCTV cameras are so important these days that with the help of these devices, the law-enforcing agencies could capture criminals in several recent crucial cases."

Other leaders of the association said the committee would strive to bring the entire country under CCTV surveillance by 2020.

They added that several public awareness campaigns would be launched at the administrative divisions for CCTV surveillance.

Of late, surveillance devices have been installed at several spots in Dhaka City.

Magura district administration and police claim that criminal activities have come down notably after CCTVs had been installed there.
