‘Senjuti’ alias ‘Manik’ was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday noon.

Senjuti’s group members, who took her to DMCH, alleged a group of ‘fake hijras’ carried out the attack.

Police have already detained two persons from Uttara in this connection.

DMCH Police Outpost’s ASI Sentu Chandra Das told bdnews24.com that Senjuti sustained bullet wounds on her stomach and back.

‘Rina’, Senjuti’s group member, said, “We were collecting money near Rajuk Market at Uttara’s sector 7. Suddenly, ‘Sima’, ‘Kochi’, ‘Sapna’ and some other hijras came riding on two motorcycles and fired several shots before fleeing.”

‘Masuma’ another member of the victim’s group said, “Sapna Alias ‘Khairul’ is a man. But he dresses up like a hijra and commits various crimes.”

Masuma claimed that Sapna was involved in criminal activities in Gulshan and Banani areas.

She claimed Senjuti was attacked because she protested the wrongdoings of that group.

Uttara Police ADC Abdus Salam told reporters that internal conflict between ‘hijra clans’ led to the attack.

Two people have been detained for interrogation, he added.
