It also ordered departmental action against the policeman under the Right to Information Act, Chief Information Commissioner Golam Rahman told bdnews24.com on Tuesday.

One Alauddin Al Masum had complained to the commission after OC Nurul Mottakin refused to tell him if a High Court order had reached the police station.

The commission summoned the OC for a hearing but he did not attend it.

“He (OC Nurul) has been fined Tk 5,000 for being absent in the hearing and not pleading for more time. His superiors have been instructed to take departmental actions against him,” the Information Commission said in a media statement.

OC Nurul has declined to comment on the matter, saying he was yet to receive a copy of the order.
