Choudhury made the comments to reporters outside the Supreme Court gate on Monday afternoon before submitting the judgments and orders he has written after retirement from the top appeals court.

Justice Choudhury said, “Khaleda Zia had had it long ago that retired judges could not write verdicts.

"(Justice Sinha) has said so as the spokesperson for Khaleda Zia to further the BNP’s agenda. He has political motives.”

The day before, speaking to the media at the court premises, the former judge claimed that the conduct of the chief justice was against “the Constitution, law and tradition”.

Later, it was said on behalf of the Supreme Court that the chief justice expects his former colleague to return all files of unfinished judgments instead of speaking to the media about the issue.

Justice Choudhury on Monday sent the verdicts and orders written by him to the senior judge of the bench he himself was part of before going into retirement.

“Justice M Iman Ali has accepted the 65 judgments and orders that I have written, along with the relevant files. They will go to the next senior Justice M Abdul Wahhab Miah,” Justice Choudhury told bdnews24.com.

“...As per the process, after finalisation the verdicts and orders will be sent to me for final signing.”

Speaking to journalists at the entrance of the Supreme Court, Shamsuddin accused the chief justice of indulging in “anti-government activities.”

“He claims that the government is taking away the independence of the judiciary. He is spreading this falsehood to dent the popularity of the government and to mislead the people. I think he should resign,” Justice Choudhury said.
