The UN secretary-general told Hasina in a phone conversation on Sunday that the UN is going to form a 'High-Level Panel on Water', her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said.

"The prime minister has accepted the offer," he said.

Ban also requested Hasina to send a police team to a meeting of law enforcers in June, Karim said.

The prime minister invited the UN general-secretary to the Global Forum on Migration and Development Summit in Dhaka. The summit is scheduled to be held in December.

"Bangladesh is stable now. All the political parties are taking part in local government elections at union council level," Karim quoted Hasina as telling Ban during the conversation.

"Everyone is busy in elections. Earlier all the parties took part in the municipal elections. The economic development activities are also in progress," she added, according to Karim.
