He was commenting Friday on the incident of a tea-seller dying of burn wounds received during an alleged attempt of extortion by policemen.

“The policemen involved in the incident will be brought to justice.”

Focusing on the recent police excesses, an MP criticised the force, saying their actions are ‘despicable’, on Thursday.

Speaking in Parliament, Jatiya Party MP Pir Fazlur Rahman also demanded a statement from the home minister explaining actions taken against the policemen involved in such activities.

Last Sunday, an assistant sub-inspector of Adabar Police Station allegedly harassed a woman at Mohammadpur.

In January, Bangladesh Bank official Golam Rabbi was injured in an alleged police torture at Mohammadpur.

Amidst criticism over the torture of Rabbi, Dhaka South City Corporation official Bikash Chandra Saha was beaten up by police officers at Jatrabarhi.

Kamal faced several questions about these incidents from reporters after a discussion at Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday afternoon.
