A truck breakdown halts traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway 

Traffic on the key Dhaka-Chittagong Highway has come to a halt because of a truck breakdown at Munshiganj’s Gazaria.

Police said the loaded Dhaka-bound truck developed a fault on the Meghna Bridge around 9am on Friday, resulting in a long tailback.
 
Kamruzzaman, Sub-Inspector at Bhaberchar Police Post, said traffic resumed about half an hour later.
 
However, vehicular movement was yet to become normal on a three-kilometre stretch of the highway.
 
Kamruzzaman told bdnews24.com, “Number of vehicles normally increases on Fridays, and a stranded truck compounded the problem.”
 
Meanwhile, dense early morning fog hampered traffic on a 17-km section of the highway at Eilotganj in Comilla.
 
Eilotganj highway police in-charge Monriul Islam told bdnews24.com the road had heavy traffic at night and the dense fog in the early hours of Friday caused a snarl-up.
 
“The situation began to get normal once the fog cleared.
