Kidnapped Bangladeshi expatriate in South Africa rescued

A Bangladeshi businessman kidnapped in South Africa has been rescued after the arrest of a person in Dhaka and seizure of ransom money from him, police say.

Expatriate businessman Md Shahidullah's family paid Tk 500,000 in ransom after his abduction on Jan 2.
 
On Jan 30, the family filed a case over money laundering and Akbar Hossain, 29, was arrested in Jatrabarhi during investigation into the case.
 
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) found Tk 300,000 of the ransom on him.
 
The abducted businessman was then rescued with the help of South African police in Sasolburg on Tuesday, CID officials said. 
 
They said Hossain admitted that his brother-in-law 'Rajib' in South Africa is involved in the abduction.
