They told bdnews24.com on Thursday that their uncle Motahar Hossain and his family were involved in making counterfeit currency notes.

Abdullah’s body was found inside a drum in Motahar’s house at Mugarchar, close to where the boy lived, four days after his abduction on Jan 29.

The police were interrogating four people, arrested in connection with the murder.

Badal, the child’s father, an expatriate working in Kuwait, had come home on leave two months ago.

“We didn’t have any enmity with my uncle...My son was murdered in a planned way because he had come to know of my uncle’s business of making counterfeit currency,” he said.

Rina Begum said the boy had often seen unknown people frequenting Motahar’s house.

He has been absconding since the incident, said Keraniganj Model Police Station OC Ferdous Hossain.

But the officer said he was unaware of Motahar’s counterfeit currency trade. “We are investigating,” he added.
