The two countries also agreed to meet at the Joint Economic Commission meeting to be held soon, the foreign ministry said.

The new Turkish Ambassador, Devrim Ozturk, called on Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at his office on Thursday.

They discussed issues pertaining to bilateral relations and regional and international matters, the foreign ministry said.

Describing the relations between Bangladesh and Turkey as ‘excellent’, the minister said “there is enormous potential to expand our bilateral cooperation further”.
He urged the Turkish Ambassador “to give a push to enhance bilateral trade and investment, while stressing exchanges of the business delegation”.
The Ambassador said there was enormous scope for cooperation in the tourism and construction sectors, areas that Turkey excelled in.
