The Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal delivered the verdict on Wednesday in the case of the 2008 murder in Cox’s Bazar.

The verdict was read in absence of the absconding convict, Nurul Amin.

In 2009, Amin secured bail citing his mother’s death, a plea later found to be false. He has been in hiding ever since.

Prosecutor Md Ayub Khan told bdnews24.com that the court also slapped a fine of Tk 5,000.

On Nov 26, 2008, Amin hacked elder sister Jahanara Begum to death over a feud with his nephew.

Police arrested him in the case filed by the victim’s daughter.
