Member states elected Bangladesh on Tuesday at the UN headquarters for the 2016-18 three-year term.
Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the UN Masud Bin Momen says the membership was amounted to a recognition of past seven years’ achievement under the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
“The large-scale development initiatives since 2009 have led Bangladesh to be self-reliant in food and agriculture despite an increase in population and decrease in arable land,” he told bdnews24.com.
