Two men detained in Khagrachharhi with arms, Indian army uniforms

A Union Parishad member and his son were detained in Khagrachharhi after firearms and Indian army uniforms were recovered from them.

According to the district’s Army Region G 2 I Maj Nasir Ul Hasan, armymen conducted the drive on Friday morning.

The detained have been identified as Kalibandhu Tripura and his son Jatan Kumar Tripura. Kalibandhu Tripura is a member of Khagrachhari 1 Union Parishad.

Maj Hasain said a tip-off led them to detain both men from their house at Nunchharhi.

“Two rifles, three shots, ‘combat uniforms’ of Indian Army and some Indian currency were recovered from them,” the Major added.

Troops in Khagrachharhi have handed the two men over to local police.

Sadar Police Station OC Shamsu Uddin Bhuiyan said the men were being interrogated.
