The one-hour written exam was scheduled to be held from 3pm on Friday. But an hour before the commencement of the test, the job-seekers were sent an SMS announcing the postponement of the exam.

The Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management is organising the test.

SBL Managing Director Md Nazmus Salehin told bdnews24.com that the exam had been postponed ‘due to unavoidable circumstances’.

A new date for the test will be circulated later, he added.

The chief executive of the bank said over 7,500 people had applied for the jobs.

Asked about the reason for the postponement, he said, “There have been rumours that the question paper has been leaked. We have come to know that the matter is being discussed and under criticism on social media.”

The exam has been postponed as BIBM could not give ‘any specific information’ on the alleged leak, Salehin said.

“We don’t want to get into any controversy,” he added.

Neither Standard Bank nor BIBM could give the exact figure of how many officers would be recruited through the test.
