Govt working on selection grade, time scale, promotion problems of officials

An organisational restructuring is being worked on to resolve problems concerning time scale, selection grade, and timely promotion of officials in various government cadres.

A press release issued by the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday indicated the initiative on the part of the government.

Organisational structures of government departments lying outside the cadres would also be recast.

The release said departmental secretaries had discussed the issues in separate meetings with the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers Association (FBUTA) and BCS coordination committee of engineers, agriculturalists and doctors, 'ProKriChi BCS Somonyo Committee', on Thursday.

Efforts were being made to end disparities in cadre and non-cadre positions of Class I government jobs, the release said.

Prime Minister’s Chief Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Finance Ministry’s Senior Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and Public Administration Ministry’s Additional Secretary Md Helal Uddin, representatives of FBUTA and ProKriChi took part in the meetings.

The management of Upazila Parishads and FBUTA proposals concerning university teachers also figured in the discussions.
