State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam wants expatriates to invest in Bangladesh.

He made the call when a nine-member business delegation of Bangladeshis settled in Britain met him in his office on Wednesday, the foreign ministry said.

The delegation expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh, while inquiring about the opportunities and the sectors they could put their money in.

The state minister recommended information technology, backward linkage industries, and food processing as possible investment fields.

Asia Leadership Trek 2016 delegation

Seven students of the Asia Leadership Trek 2016 also met the state minister on Wednesday.

He answered the students’ queries on Bangladesh’s prospects and challenges.

Alam also told them about Bangladesh’s many achievements.

Asia Leadership Trek is a socio-economic and political study tour patronised by the Centre for Asia Leadership Initiatives and Harvard University’s Asia Centre.

The team, since Dec 27, visited seven places five Asian countries and interacted with leaders there to know about politics, economics, business and social issues.
